We purchase our logs directly from the mills, therefore you have a variety of logs to choose from, such as Pines, Spruces, Firs and Cedars milled in different sizes and shapes.

It is our opinion that in Oklahoma’s harsh weather conditions the species of log is not the biggest factor in the longevity of your log home. We have built log homes in Oklahoma for over 25 years with different species and styles of logs and we have not seen one log out perform another. The design and maintenance of the home plays a much bigger factor to the life of your logs.

Our most popular log is the 6”x 8” D-shape Spruce log. There are a several reasons for its popularity. First of all, it is milled from dead standing trees so you have a reasonably stable log with a minimum of shrinkage. Secondly, it’s shape gives your interior walls a flat surface which makes hanging items easier and it does not collect as much dust as the round logs. It also is very light in color which enables it to accept a wide variety of stains or you can leave it clear for the lightest finish. Lastly, it is abundant and fairly easy to harvest making it a relatively inexpensive log.

saddle-notch corners
Round and Swedish cope logs require saddle-notch corners. They get their name from the saddle shaped notches cut into the bottom of each log.
You can also upgrade to saddle-notch corners with the D-shape logs.

butt-and-pass corners

D-shape logs use the butt-and-pass corners. The butt-and-pass corners are formed when one log stops where it meets the intersecting log which extends past the corner. Unlike the photo we remove the exposed tongue and groove on the butt-and-pass corners. You can also upgrade to saddle-notch corners with the D-shape logs.

double tongue and groove
Double tongue & groove is the most popular way of joining the logs and are done on both round and D-shape logs. We put a log tape between the tongue and groove to provide an added protection.

single tongue and groove
Single tongue & groove is basically the same as the double tongue and groove, just with one less tongue and groove.

swedish cope
Swedish cope logs are round logs that are concave on the bottom to allow it to stack on the other log. We put a strip of log tape or a strip of standard insulation between the logs for added protection.
